Parks in Beijing are seeing groups of people jogging after sunset. And those night joggers are mostly young people. As more and more join the groups, night jogging has become a new fad in Beijing.
Nine o'clock, each night, a group of young people gather at Yuandadu Relics Park. Li Zhaoning started the group.
Li said, "At first, I set up an Internet chat group. Now there are dozens of members in the group. Usually, there are two or three people each day, seven or eight at the most."
A month ago, Li began to recruit companies on the Internet for jogging at night. Now his group has nearly 20 members. Other people jog alone. But they share the same passion as Li. They want to get a good workout and take advantage of the lower temperatures and cleaner air.
"We have to work during the daytime, and those who are always sitting in the office lack proper exercise. And the air quality at night is better."
Experts say that people who jog at night are more consistent, and it's easier for people living at a hectic pace to make it a habit. They suggest that people jog three or four times a week with moderate intensity, and with a duration from 20 minutes to one hour. |
