Your thread makes me recall one of my friend who was diagnosed as having cyst in the knee joint after 2007 Yangzhou Half-Marathon. He is a surgeon and quit the running forever.
After the first few months training, your running mileage is building up steadily, you can run at faster pace, and you start to feel high when the endorphin is working on you. By the time, it could be very difficult to keep a cool mind, you could be intoxicated by the quick success and not aware of the overtraining which is lurking. You keep running further and further, faster and faster, and more and more often until one day, it pays back.
Too bad that our health cannot be reserved, if we stop working out, it diminishes. That is one of the reason that our body needs long term strategic planning which requires great vision, persistence, patience and discipline. We are not only training our body to run, we are also training our mind to become stronger and achieve our goal in the long run. |
